Use Google’s Parameter Handling to Avoid Duplicate Content Issues

While developing or working with a dynamic site all of use might have come across the problem of duplicate content in one or other way. This case arises mainly with dynamic sites such as shopping cart or similar sites. In these kind of sites there would always be different URLs with the same content or product details. The URLs in these case will be different with either session IDs or other parameters. But such a situation will result in creating a confusing situation for Google on which URL to ignore and which one to be considered as the original one.

There is Page Rank Loss with 301 Redirects

As per recent interview with Matt Cutts, the debate over the passage of link value and page rank with 301 redirects has been made more clearer. As per Matt Cutts the 301 redirects do not fully pass the page rank and values. Even though he is not 100% sure about the answer, he didn’t ignore the possible loss of page rank value as a result of the 301 redirects. During the interview Matt Cutts also stated that he was not sure whether the crawling and indexing team has implemented any sort of such natural page rank decay. But later in a follow email he stated confirmed that the fact was true.

Google has recently decided to index updates from Facebook pages to enhance its real time search results. The feature is just on a roll out and would be available in all the languages in the coming days.
