Google always keeps on changing the way it shows the search results and few days back it has made another major change in the way search results are displayed. Google has decided to take of the profile pictures and Google Plus circle count in the search results and will be rolled out for both the desktop users as well as mobile users. Google used to show the image and Google Plus circle count in their search results and this was based on the integration with Google Authorship feature. The search results used to have a image of the author as well as the circle count of the author’s Google Plus account.
The new search presentation by Google will certainly bring changes in the click-through rates and when previously Google started showing the images of the author along with the results, there used to be a increase in the click-through rate the search results that had profile images looked more trustful for the searchers. Even though Google has decided to take of the profile image and circle count from its search results, the name of the author will be there in the results page. The name of the author in the search results will be clickable and will take you to the authors profile page.
As per various sources, Google has made this decision to simplify the way the authorship in shown in mobile and other devices. Google believes that the new format will provide a better visual display and also expects the click-through rate to be the same.
