Yahoo Answers to be Shut Down Permanently on 4 May

Yahoo Answers is undoubtedly one of the longest-running Q & A platforms on the web and has been operating since 2005. As per recent information, Yahoo Answers will shut down its operations permanently on 4 May.

Yahoo, is now part of Verizon Media Group and they have announced this major change at the top of the homepage of Yahoo Answers. Their message is linked to a FAQ and it has mentioned the details about the timeline of the shutdown. The Yahoo Answers platform will no longer accept new submissions from the 20th of April.

Yahoo Answers has send a note to the active members that mentions about the details of why they are going to shutdown the platform.

Yahoo Answers was launched sixteen years ago, so as to help people across the world to connect together and share valuable information. With millions of users across the world, Yahoo Answers became one of the best platform on the internet to ask and get answers on a wide rage of topics. It indeed created a community of global knowledge sharing that was very much unique on the internet.

The company stated that they are very much proud of what they have accomplished together, and they have decided to shut down the platform on 4th of May 2021. The company also said that the platform has become less popular over the years and hence they decided to shift their resources away from it and focus on other products that can better serve its members. Apart from that, these days there are other platforms such as Reddit and Quora that are doing the same tasks of Yahoo Answers in a better way.

For the existing users, they need to request their data until 30th of June, otherwise it will become inaccessible afterwards. From the 20th of April 2021, the users will not be able to post any new questions or answers on Yahoo Answers.

The company has stated that the users can download a copy of their questions and answers by signing into “Your Privacy Dashboard” and requesting a download. The users will be able to do this till the 30th of June 2021 and after that Yahoo Answers will delete the data securely and will not be available anymore. The shutting down of Yahoo Answers will not affect your Yahoo account and other services by Yahoo.
