The popular micro blogging platform Twitter is planning to purge the accounts that have remained inactive for 6 months. They are taking this step so as to free up the usernames for other people who need them. As per reliable sources, the account deletion by Twitter will take place on the 11th of December 2019 and the accounts that are not being used for 6 months will be the main target. Twitter officials has also revealed that they refer an account as “Inactive”, when the user has not logged into it for the last 6 months.
Even if there are not engagement for a twitter account, it cannot be considered if the user has atleast logged in during the mentioned time period. Meanwhile, Twitter will be sending out emails to the owners of the Twitter accounts which are marked as inactive. This is done to notify them about the deletion and it might also provide them with a chance to log in and thereby save their account from being deleted.
As we all know, there are also a huge number of bot accounts in Twitter, which are actually never logged into by a real user. It is not clear what will happen to such bot accounts in Twitter, which is present aplenty. It seems that they might not get deleted as long as they are publishing Tweets by any means. There was an owner of several bot accounts who mentioned that he has not got any email notification from Twitter, regarding his accounts being deleted.
If there is an inactive Twitter account which has a username that you are looking to own, then you might be able to claim the same on 11th of December 2019 and you need to act fast to obtain it. This will be a huge opportunity for all the big corporate companies and celebrities who could not own the username that they wished to have. Chances are that the user names made in their names might be inactive and they can really go for claiming it.
If we have a close look into various Twitter accounts in our followers list, we can see that there are a lot of inactive accounts which are of no use. By having such accounts in our followers list might also devalue our profile rank and it is also a difficult task to remove them manually. But this move by Twitter will be making things easy for us and thereby improve the overall quality of our Twitter profile.
